Open Mic at The Thirsty Soul Philly 2-28-2019

In this open mic, the table right in front of me caught on fire while I played my first song. Also, I followed an interesting fellow who was visited by an alien being and pronounced the “chosen one.” So, as I continue to hone my gift of stage gab, I concocted an opening that gave a nod to that. Featuring Gardens and Cobblestones, I Drive a Bus, and– inevitably– Chinese Buffet.

Song: On Fire

I happened upon a really infectious beat I created a couple of years ago and, after an enjoyable session, pulled a catchy melody from the universe. As fate would have it, I decided to listen to The Doors for the heck of it, and realized what I had with this song is a Doors-influenced piece of classic rock with a twist of contemporary production. And so, On Fire was born. It was fun to channel a bit of Jim Morrison, walking the line between psychedelic and Sinatra in vocal and lyrical styling. Yep, looks pretentious to have typed that out loud.

A Relatively Morbid, but Somewhat Poignant, Birthday Song

It’s my birthday today, and decades of having to piggy back on Valentine’s Day, President’s Day, and Mardi Gras cultivated a rather peculiar attitude in me, leading to this song. Actually, the song is quite old; but, today I had a creative flash and decided to make a video, which features the Old Baby version of my visage.
