I remember buying the cheap Ibanez acoustic guitar starter set and plucking around quite a bit back in college. This song emerged (as many of them do) from fretting a chord incorrectly. It was originally about a girl who I couldn’t quite get to know; but, after a few iterations and recordings during the next several years, it transformed into a song about my mom. I suppose psychologically that reveals a bit about me. I do consider the act of music creation to be quite therapeutic.
