Mitchell Effect
pot heads shuffle through a maze of padded cubes
soulless light is flooding through electric tubes
people suffer in a lazy shade of gray
having gotten all of that for which they prayed
take it back, i gotta take it back
take it back home
i don’t want it any other way
i don’t like it any other way
some have learned to laugh and laugh at all the pain
some may never notice then get fooled again
somewhere sometime a good idea gets lost
while useless motherfuckers are appointed “boss”
take it back, i gotta take it back
take it back home
i don’t want it any other way
i don’t like it any other way
empty shouting
floats across the room
stupid decisions
mark some future doom
would be lovers
shun magnetic glances
dying hearts
that beat for songless dances

About
They called a special meeting at my office one day to announce the addition of card entry into my building. Apparently, a fellow had quit and checked himself into a mental facility, claiming that– rather than coming to the office to “harm” us– he was seeking treatment. Yikes! As I sometimes do, I took the “Sympathy for the Devil” point of view. There is an old cruddy metal version of this song, but it seemed fun to disco-ize it.
